Vocat is a cloud based (internet-storage) platform so you will not need to install any software. Vocat works with both Mac and Windows computers and various browsers including: Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. All instructions below are drawn from the official Vocat Documentation.
For Faculty:
- Faculty are “Evaluators”: More information on this role in the Vocat Documentation
- Signing into Vocat: Visit baruch.vocat.io. Your sign in information will be the same username and password you use to sign into a Baruch computer.
- Setting up your Course: You will need to “Request a New Course” using the button on the right. After clicking the button, complete the necessary fields.
- Adding Students to your Course: Once your course appears, you will need to add the students to the course. To do this, click on your new course. When the course screen appears, click the arrow in the green/gray “Menu” button in the top bar. Select “Enrollment”. On the Enrollment page, add students using their Baruch email address.
For Students:
- Students are “Creators”: More information on this role in the Vocat Documentation
- Signing into Vocat: Visit baruch.vocat.io. Log in with Baruch email address and Active Directory password (same password used to log in to email, on-campus WiFi, and computer lab or classroom computers).
- Finding your Course: Once you sign in, the course should be listed under “Your Courses”. If it does not appear your professor may have not added you to the course yet. You may want to contact your professor to let them know you cannot see the course.
Uploading Media:
- YouTube and Vimeo videos can be added to Vocat by pasting the URL (link) in “Media > Manage Media”
- Vocat also allows you to upload your own video (mp4) files. If recording your own videos, there are three suggested ways to record videos for use on the VOCAT 3 system: iPhone/iPad “Camera” app, Android “Camera” app, or some kind of flip-camera style recording device. Check out this documentation on recording your own video
- For more information about uploading media see “Submitting New Media” in the Vocat Documentation.
