In this site, I’ve tried to compile some of the more hands-on and/or project based assignments I incorporated into my teaching during my time at Baruch. The assignments lend themselves well to Hybrid courses, in which you might consider capitalizing on the time out of class by having students work together on projects and/or explore various resources in the city.
Basically I created a page for each of the assignments I thought folks might be interested in. On each page, I try to provide a link to the related course site, an overview of the assignment, a sense of the timeline, and some examples of student work (finished and in process).
I started to run out of time (my access to Blogs@Baruch runs out on 8/31), so some of the pages are not as complete as others. Also I expect you’ll find more than one typo. I’ve made Lisa, Allison D., Cheryl, Laura, and Mary site administrators for this blogs@baruch site. They can add anyone as a contributor or administrator. The hope is that this page is a place to begin, and that you can keep building. Perhaps the first thing you might do is change the name, since it is quite corny (but who can resist an acronym that comes from an acrostic meditation on their own initials?)!
For most of the examples, I have a lot more photos. I might email some to Lisa in the upcoming weeks, and there are a few other bits of information that are blank now, that I hope to email to Lisa. Also if I omitted any big thing or if something is really unclear, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to email Lisa with a clarifying update.
In the meantime, I hope this information is of use. I wish I could have done more.
