Response To the word “home resonate throughout the excerpt”

How can one define the meaning of the word home? Within Gertrude Stein’s piece the theme of the word “home “was irresolute. Gertrude and Alice didn’t have a definite home because they were consistently on the go, always on an adventure. But traveling to various locations  continuously occurred in this piece. Gertrude and Alice were staying with the Whitehead family for 6 week in Cambridge, but then returned back to Paris after the battle. As they wanted to get away from the war, they went to Palma to spend some weeks but stayed the whole winter. As they consistently traveled to multiple places they would always come back to Paris. It may seem as though Paris should be considered their home. But on the contrary no place could be determined as their home. At the time of war, what people thought were their homes were either destroyed or taken away. In this case for Gertrude and Alice, what they considered to be their home was seized by German officers. Being this way and loosing something valuable to you, how can one determine what is home to you.
