This assignment should be your strongest and best post of the semester, especially with our focus on depth of coverage and quality of production. Here are the requirements:
1. Topic should be newsworthy. Tell your readers about something they surely don’t know already. Find a controversy or report on an unusual event. Finding the right topic will be key. This can’t be a review or list – it has to tell a story.
2. Interview at least two people who aren’t other college students. You have to get off campus. Push yourself. Don’t take the easiest way out.
3. Post must have at least one photo, two to three would be better.
4. Four to five hyperlinks.
5. Well written, clean copy, no grammatical mistakes.
6. At least 400 words. You can go longer – up to 600 words.
I will return my edits to you during our one-on-one conferences the first week of May. I’ll be handing around a sign-up sheet the week before. Conferences are mandatory.
The second reported post will be a main component of your final. I expect to assign between 20-30 points of the final on just this one component.
