ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

INTERVIEW:

RATIONALE:

The overview of the discussion of the interview and key details are based on day of the dead since its approaching soon and it was a picture of a ofrenda ( shrine) for lost ones we have lost and describes what it is and things we do in order to create it and what are some offering we put and it would be what foods they liked when they were alive and place it Infront of their photo. How as she was a kid she would go with her family at the cemetery and have. Gathering and just sit around her grandfather and spend time. Something new I learned from the interviewee was that as a kid her grandmother was like a delivery nurse but without going to school and she never asked her grandmother, and she would use home remedies for postpartum women when she was introducing about her and childhood. Also, that they would cleanse the shrine before adding their favorite foods. How she stated that sometimes after the day after when they were supposed to come the food doesn’t have the same flavor on the original food/ fruit they believe that once that happens it means they came and ate their food. This oral history project honors the legacy of the interviewee because this is her culture she has been raised and it’s important to her. Certain details I could do is to try the best of my abilities for the audience to understand by describing the process.Strategy I used to get most out go the conversation is to let the conversation flow by asking questions from what they had and then tie it back to the photo that she has chosen. When conducting an intimate interview was not as natural because I didn’t know how to express myself in a way to comfort someone but tried to the best of my abilities. What I would like from listeners/ views to take away from this conversation about family because that is very important and celebrating your culture with family. Also, they understand the Mexican culture of day of the dead being a huge part of family and honor our loved ones that have passed.
