FYI – I pay for both of these subscriptions, and as a regular customer, I get one of many variations available each month. So while one month alone might not be enough info to make a decision, looking at the results over several months should give you a good picture of what to expect with each box.
In general, I would recommend Ipsy if you are looking for full-size products, but keep in mind that they send a variety of price point items. (Some high-end, some drugstore).
Alternatively, Birchbox mainly sends out high-end items, but their sample sizes are smaller, and full-size items are somewhat rare.

Verdict: It’s another tough month to pick a winner! I’m going to have to go with Birchbox this month since all products worked for me (even the perfume is growing on me). And with Ipsy, the mascara ended up being a disappointment. Both boxes are still a great value, though!

Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5. The best product from all the beauty boxes I tried was in the Ipsy box (the mini dry shampoo), but most of the other products fell flat.

SHTRANDS is a subscription box that sends you customized hair care regimens from a team of hairstylists and cosmetic chemists every two months. The hair care regimen includes 4 full sized cleansing, conditioning and styling products. Products included in the box should last you two months. At any point in the subscription you can choose to receive a completely new regimen or a mix of new products and ones you have already received and loved.
FYI – Before SHTRANDS sent me the first box to review I filled out a hair questionnaire. Because my items are based off of my personal preferences, my Shtrands delivery will probably be different than others. After receiving you receive your first box they let you provide feedback and you can get the same products or different ones.

Each box comes with a really nice, durable canvas bag. It has loop handle on the left side and a zipper top. It’s nice and big and would be perfect for traveling and organizing. I’m so excited to have a bunch of these.

Overall rating: 2 out of 5. I loved the mini tube of mascara, but the box didn’t introduce me to any new items that I’ll buy again. Also, Birchbox needs to up their packaging game — they should include a tiny makeup bag or something to give their boxes a little somethin’ somethin’.
