First-generation college students from a family of both immigrant parents have it more difficult than a student with at least one parent completing a college-level education. By supporting my claim I will try to focus on getting more personal experiences and stories that are shared from both perspectives and comparing both of their answers to a variety of questions. Obstacles that would cause me to have a roadblock would be the issue of honest and genuine answers that have not been biased or fabricated to side with either side of first-generation students and continuing college students. As a first-generation college student myself, I personally find it very stressful and somewhat of a burden to finish college. The more I start to realize my own situation I know that there are many other stories from other people that are facing the same pressure and stress to succeed in college and their personal future. The closer I get to the research I start to see my own life within the stories shared. Having both parents dedicate their money and time for me to become the one to succeed in the “American Dream” is overwhelming.
