Daniel Gilbert says that we learn from experiences and reports of others. To make our decisions, we depend on what others claim. We read the reviews and posts on blogs to share information and make decisions. Had there been no internet, we would have to physically go to people and talk to know how they feel, or turn pages after pages of a book which would be hectic and time consuming. There is fear that participating in a public culture can damage one’s reputation or that constant surfing means the loss of focuas or that having information at hanf eihh result in a failure to actually know things. (Participatiung in theAlways ony, Pg 75. Danah Boyd)

Reflecting the terms “cosmopolitan” and “globalization”, Kwame Antony Appiah, in “Making Conversation” says that cultures are different. According to Appiah, to know each other we need to have conversation. He says that the completely globalized countries will be the winners. To make conversation internet plays a vital role. Without internet, we would not be able to easily talk to or know about a person and his culture from around the globe. Again, internet has made the world a community.

According to Bluebox, “Because of this newfound access to information, the Internet allows everyone who owns a computer to have an opinion and share it through various methods, including blogs, videoblogs, and social networking websites”(Cultural Change and the Internet) Through the help of the internet, we can get information about other cultures easily. Internet has been a very informative source in developing nations. People in developing nations can instantly learn about the advances made by the developed nations and adapt accordingly. For example: Girls in India were deprived of education and were bound to do housework. Learning the facts about the women progress in other parts of the world, parents in India now send their daughters to school. Internet is the fastest and easiest route to information, and given the opportunity and knowledge, it can effect cultures and people drastically.
