“The Privileged Many: A Study of CUNY’s Open Admissions Policy”

As you walk up toward City Hall, you spot someone who looks a lot like Khadija DeLoache, so you go up and ask them. It is Khadija! You are glad to see her, especially after just reading her alumni profile in the bulletin.

You notice that Khadija is carrying a booklet in their hands and you ask about it. She tells you that it’s an old report on the very early effects of open admissions on CUNY and its students. She is trying to make sure that this report ends up in the right place in the CUNY History Booth. You wonder what it says, and so you ask to take a look at it.

You flip through and detect words like ‘history’, ‘statistics’, and ‘data’ on various pages, as well as a lot of charts and graphs. You land on a section that reads ‘Joining the dialogue’, and slow down to read more closely.

There are so many thoughts running through your head as you read the report, and you wonder if other people looked back on open admissions and had different takes on it.
