Major writing projects, this week, submitting final projects

Let’s catch up on how the library project went and think toward the final DV project.

Journal 8 and ELD (20-30 min)

Let’s talk about Journal 8 and think toward the ELD project.

I’m going to pair you off and you are going to read each other’s Journal 8 (switch computers, email the doc to each other). I want you to respond to the following questions in response to your partner’s writing:

  • What was the most exciting idea in this piece? Why?
  • What needs more explanation or evidence from their writing? Why?
  • Anything here make you think about your own writing or what you might do in the ELD?

After responding to these questions for both pieces, go through the ELD prompt together and start to map pieces of your Journal 8 to each category. Then, take 2 minutes alone to start to plan your next steps for your ELD assignment.

In-class work (20 min)

If time, let’s start working on some of these projects.

Next time (2-5 min)

-Work on your DV and ELD projects

-We will workshop a Learning Narrative and/or excerpts from multiple LNs to get us thinking about those projects as first passes at what will be the ELD.

-You’ll have time in class to fill out your OMET and also time in class to work on your final projects.

-We will wrap up our semester together. You’ll turn in your final projects by Thursday, December 12th at 11:59pm.
