After a semester of this course, I have learned and grown a lot as a writer. For one, I enjoyed the process of writing, re-writing, and re-writing again. Before this year, I never really submitted drafts of my work. Through this course, I learned that writing is truly a process and it cannot all be done in one night or one sitting. Even when I felt like I had written something perfect, there was always more work and editing that could have been done. I also learned that sometimes to write better, it is better to take a mental break. When I took a mental break away from my work, I would come back refreshed and filled with new ideas.
For future students taking this course, I would recommend everyone to stay very on top of their work. With online classes, it is sometimes difficult to keep track of all the assignments and due dates. I would suggest that a future student plan out exactly when all the assignments are due. Also, read every assignment carefully because it is easy to make a mistake. I would also tell the students to not be shy or scared of asking clarifying questions to the professor. The professor is here to help and guide you, not judge you. With the skills learned from the professors, you will see yourself grow as a student and writer. Even though it may seem like a lot of writing, the only way to improve as a writer is to keep practicing!
