Title | Baruch Blog #1 |
Content | Last week I decided to push myself a bit out of my comfort zone and actually attend clubs hours. I made my way down to the third floor first and searched for a club I might find an interest in. But I didn’t really know where any club were, so I made my way to the second floor to see what was going on at the Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Once I got down there the music was louder. Bachata and reggaeton were blasting through the stereo. The celebration was crowded and people were dancing. At some point students started paying musical chair, but with a twist; instead sitting you had to grab on to on of the people and start dancing to the music. I wandered around for a bit paying attention to songs I’ve heard so many times in my Dominican household. There were also familiar foods being served, many of which I knew the names of. Overall it was a welcoming environment, except for the crowding of people. It was great to see such diversity being represented at Baruch. Especially, how well united the Hispanic students were in organizing the event. Walking around it united, but there were also tables for some clubs for different Hispanic countries. That’s when I noticed the Dominican club, or ASEDOM, that was covered by a large crowd of people. I was born in Dominican Republic, so ASEDOM seemed like a club I’d be interested in. I made my way to the table to sign up and get some info. I look forward to the clubs general interest meeting next week and can’t wait to learn more about what the club does. |
