Rickshaw Pullers in Japan

Kelly Wetherills’s article on “Pulling Tourists Around the Streets of Tokyo” describes the career life of a “rickshaw puller.” A rickshaw puller is equivalent to those horse carriage rides you usually see at Central Park except a rickshaw puller’s job is a lot more…..strenuous. Rickshaw pullers are usually men in their 20s and earn a wage of 15 dollars per 10 minute. If you are ever in Tokyo, make sure to visit Asakusa and experience how it feels like to be on a rickshaw!!! I can guarantee you it is a lot different than sitting on a horse carriage.
