1.Urethane Wheels

Prior to urethane wheels, skateboard wheels were made of  steel, or different clay composites. These weels were extremely dangerous and wore out quickly. Frank Nasworthy discovered  that using polyurethane for wheels allowed for a much smoother ride that was faster and safer. Realizing the potential of polyurethane wheels he formed the Cadillac wheels company. “News of the wheels initially spread by word of mouth, but the cumulative effect was a reawakening of skateboarding to the extent that, by 1975, scores of manufacturers had entered the market, a national magazine, Skateboarder, had re-formed and Nasworthy was selling 300,000 sets of wheels per year.”
