Please post three possible topics for your Analytical Research Paper to the blog. These should be three ideas that you are personally very interested in. Be sure that your topic is sufficiently narrow and that you can explain how the topic fits under the broad category of “Language, Identity, and Representation”. The more specific you can be about what interests you, the more successful your essay will be. Please express your idea in the form of a question. This will give us some sense of what it is that you are interested in exploring about your topic. Your topics must be posted by 12pm on Wed., Nov. 16th
Why is the world cup the biggest event in soccer?
Can music express where we come from?
What kinds of food reflect someone’s country?
I feel like the first question can already be answered by saying nationalism, and the tradition.
The second question seems good but is very broad.
The third question feels also pretty answerable as different cultures have different types of food.
I feel like your questions are not really analysis question but rather questions that can be answer in a paragraph.
The first question has a answer already given and is not expandable.
3rd question is vague, since there are tons of types of food that are culturally dynamic to multiple cultures and wont specially represent a single persons country.
The first question and third question can be easily answered.
Question about world cup is vague.
The first question is easily answerable, and the second question is a bit vague.
I like the first question a lot, but I do agree with others that it can be answered in a few paragraphs.
1.How has gender played a role in the amount of time punishment is needed in the NBA?
2.How has representation changed from the beginning of basketball to now in terms of what type of people are playing?
3.How has representation affected both genders when talking about eSports?
I feel like the second Question could be changed to be a bit clearer. The questions seems like a long stretch in terms of representation
the first question is interesting but I am not sure if it would be possible to research it
The second question would be interesting. I think it is perfect but needs a little bit to restructure the wording
The third question seems to be forcing representation into the question. I am not sure in what sense you are talking about the representation.
1.For question1, does this relate to our course theme?
2. For question 2, this is a very interesting question. I think you should be able to find sufficient sources.
For the 3rd question I think you could narrow it more, like in the esports scenario what specially are you trying to differ between the genders. Is it their income? Is it their tournament eligibility?
How does weightlifting on social media influence the changes to the expectations of modern day masculinity?
How does the representation of college admissions control the mental well being of teenagers?
How is modern day comedy pushing the limits of representation?
For the second question what do you mean by “control” and In terms of college admission are you talking about the process or the outcome of what college you got accepted into?
I like the last question because it catches the reader’s attention and since it will lead to a good analysis.
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
How does endless scrolling on social media affect the human brain?
How does clothing represent the treatment one is faced by others?
How does Gen Z viewpoint of wealth differ from Millennials?
I love the first question, but I feel like the 3rd question could be answered very easily rather than lead to an analysis.
The first question seem to be interesting but possibly too narrow
The other two questions are good
I think the second question is very interesting and could be connected with the rest of them if you will be writing your essay on this topic
The first question is a very good question. I think you could find sufficient sources to help you. I’m confused on what you are asking in question 2.
The second question is really interesting, and research can be done for this topic.
How does social media take a big part on a teenagers life?
How has the pandemic changed our way of living?
How does language define a person?
These questions are extremely broad, focus on a certain part of social media, the pandemic, and language.
I like the first question because it relates to the theme
i like the first question a lot, one of mine is very similar. I would really love to hear your perspective on this.
The questions are too vague, try to be more specific.
I think one way you can do your research for all of these questions is interview other people. I think these questions are a bit too broad and there are many different topics you can cover with one question. Try to be more specific, for example “How did the pandemic impact our way of communicate with one another?”
i like the questions especially the 2nd question because there is a lot of resources that one can do as well as it is a topic that many people can relate to it
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
How is cancel culture bad in social media?
How is sneaker head culture connected to identity?
How does music influence behavior in young adults?
The first question is interesting, but maybe re-wording would lead to a good analysis.
I would focus on the first and the third question to be more focused on a certain type of social media, or what behavior is being affected
The first question is a very interesting with a lot of resources you can explore. I would phrase the question a bit differently, broader in a way
I ‘am a bit confused to your first question. Try rephrasing it to make it more understandable.
I think the first question can be easily answered and should be reworded.
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
I like your first question a lot. I think it can lead to many possible answers and discussions.
How do India’s corrupt politics affect the representation of what the people want and need?
How is Pakistan’s identity affected when it is an Islamic Republic but is starting to see breakthroughs of conflicting religions and ideologies?
How can language bring people together who are of different regions but speak the same tongue, like the people of Punjab, Pakistan and Punjab, India?
I feel the first question may be too answerable
The second question may be too narrow, but it also might be good, depends how much information you are able to find
I like the third
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
The last question is the one in my opinion. I feel like you can expand this question in multiple ways.
1. What is the basic root cause for all addictions?
2. Does Equality Exist in Our Society Or Is This Concept a Myth?
3. Does immigrants who entered America illegally have a chance to seek asylum?
I feel like we know the answer to question 1 and 3. I like your second question but expand on it more.
The first question does not seem to be on the topic
The second question is really broad
I like the third question but you may find difficulty in finding sources
The second question is very broad which could lead to several other things but maybe try another question
I feel like the second question is broad and the third question seems like something we know the answer to.
1st question is too broad the cause of addiction can vastly differ between people.
For the second question narrow it down more. Equality in terms of what? Equality in race? Equality in neighborhoods?
I think the 3rd question is already answerable
1.Why do WNBA players get paid less than NBA players?
2.How does social media effect our society?
3.What is global warming?
I feel like these questions are vague and we know the answers to these questions.
The first question is answerable
The other 2 are very broad
1. I feel like the first question can be answered straight off and no research has to be done about it.
2. Social media is a topic that is very broad, you can be more specific to what type of social media (ex, TikTok, Instagram)
3. The third question is a topic we all can answer without the having to need to do research on it. Yes, research can be done about it but it’s a topic that most people reading the question would know the answer to.
First question can be easily answered
Question 2 is too vague
Question 3 can be answered in a couple minutes with a google search, not open ended

1. What is the affect of toxic masculinity on feminism?
2 .How does gentrification hurt communities?
3. How does the NYC specialized high school exam have prejudiced implications?
First of all, I love the second question. Second of all instead of talking about how the specialized high school exam is prejudice talk about how or why the NYC specialized high school exam is discriminatory and should be taken down. Finally, the first question but I feel like the same could be said for the effect of toxic femininity on men.
The first question is the one. Love it.
I think the second question is good because it could lead to further investigation or analysis
-I like the first question but I feel like the answer is a little self explanatory but knowing more wouldn’t be a problem, and also if you can make the question a little more in depth that would make it better too.
-Very good question I should’ve thought about something like this I am interested in knowing a bit more on this topic I think you should go with this question about gentrification.
-very interesting question about the school system in NYC this could also be a sort of investigation and this question can take you a long way into your final essay.
I like the third question, but the first two seem very broad
the 3rd question is interesting because it plays a big role in New York. it also reflects to the topic that we are disusing in class such as language and identifying. i do think that there is a lot of resources online because this is a topic that is spoken to a lot and written many articles online of this topic. i would say try to make it a bit more of an open needed question by the way that it is worded.

How does weightlifting on social media influence the changes to the expectations of modern day masculinity?
How do fashion and luxury influence young teenagers today?
How come celebrities can’t express their thoughts and emotions to the media without being immediately judged and or ridiculed?
I like the first question a lot. I think its important to talk about the effect that social media has on young men as well.
I think you could turn the third question more into a debate making it more open ended
The second question is interesting
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
1. How can art help someone explore different aspects of their identity?
2. How does racism impact the performance of the criminal justice system?
3. How have video games become the new way of telling stories?
The first question may be too broad, and the next two seem good.
I love the second question and it would be a great way to do further research.
I love the second question seems like an amazing topic to talk about and research on this would lead to an amazing paper. The third questions seem like a very compelling topic to do a paper on it would greatly catch the reader’s attention.
1.should international music artists be allowed to win western awards if their media is consumed here?
2. how does social media give young girls a negative perception of their bodies?
3. how can feminism also become toxic?
I feel like you could combine the second and the third questions together. A lot of times performative feminism/activism also negatively impacts their perception of their overall appearance.
I like the second question; it brings a lot of attention on this issue.
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
1. what is the effect on teenagers by social media?
2. why do female doctors get paid less than males?
3. can physical exercise truly make an impact on one’s mental health?

how dose each culture view mental health?
1. Why do women stick to men who they know are no good for them?
2. Why philosophers are stupid?
3. How can we, as a society, come together and help one another
I LOVE the first question and i really do believe you could incorporate a lot of psychological research and analysis
The second question seems a bit vague but could lead to a very interesting paper if it were more detailed. The third question though seems like an amazing question.
First question is very interesting, I would be interested in knowing this answer and even vice versa Man to woman.
I love the first question, when answering this question, you can already see it can be answered in an analytical way instead of a descriptive way. A lot can be said from this question.
I think the first question is really interesting. I feel like the second and third questions can be narrowed down a bit, but the topics are nice.
1. What did we learn from Kyrie get punished so severely for what he did?
2. Were the BLM protest subsequent to George Floyd more beneficial than damaging?
3. What compels people to comment under media post?
the second question is your strongest one, but the only suggestion i have is to phrase it in an open-ended manner instead of a “yes or no” question.

I think your questions are good. The topics you picked are interesting as well. :o)
1. How electronics effect kids?
2. What role does exercise plays in improvement?
3.How can music effect your mood?
your first question, out of all of the three, is the least vague and i believe it could be further expanded upon. for example, maybe you want to focus on developmental, psychological, or physical effects. you could also specify what aspects of electronics, such as screen time and media consumption
Hey amazing questions I love it. Keep it up fam
Your second question in my opinion is your best. Exercise helps people in a variety of ways. People at any age as well.
