Hey, my name is Joann and unlike the majority, my intended major is Biology. I’m nervous for this new start in Baruch since I am away from the friends I grew up with for the past decade. I am not a social butterfly, which makes it difficult for me to make new friends. However, I will make an effort to become more sociable and interact with my peers.
In my family, I have two older siblings, a brother and a sister; making me the youngest and the last one in the family to attend college. An interesting thing about me is that I could play the piano. I played piano ever since I was 6 years old, for nine years. Even though I played this instrument for nearly a decade, I am not very talented at it. During my leisure time, I enjoy painting, cooking, watching Korean drama, and most importantly, sleeping. Painting is my form of therapy. Especially since school creates a lot of stress, creating new art allows me to release my stress and emotions onto the canvas, as well as reveal my creativity. Cooking becomes a necessity as you grow up, hence, I am getting a head start. I cannot cook like a Michelin star chef YET, but at least my food is edible. My specialty would of course be ramen, which I enjoy to eat while I binge watch Korean drama.
The picture I had chose to represent me would be the torch. Yes, my future is represented by New York University. After I graduate from Baruch, my goal is to attend NYU for medical school. Acceptance into this prestigious school located in the heart of the city requires hard work and dedication which is why I hope I can make the most out of my academic career here at Baruch. I can’t wait to go on this four year journey with you guys and I most definitely cannot wait to start saving lives!
