    One of the main ideas mentioned in “Metaphors We Live By” is that argument is war. Strategic usage in words are metaphors because those strategies used in arguing resembles those used in a battle. The headline of this article, “Columbia Peace Deal is Defeated, Leaving a Nation in Shock,” is an example of the idea, argument is war.

  2. Since we were not only limited to looking up Newspaper headlines I found a picture of a Subway Ad that I always see while riding the train; an ad for mattresses by the brand Casper. The image I linked below is a conduit metaphor because with just the phrase ‘The perfect mattress for new parents’ not everyone will understand what new parents usually have to put up with nor may know the context of the phrase. The image helps enlighten the viewer with what the artist wants his audience to understand from the metaphorical phrase shown on the bottom.
