Think of a physical object from a story you’ve read or a movie you’ve seen that has held some level of symbolic importance. What was the object and what story/movie was it from? What did it symbolize? Why was it so important to the story?

1. Can you in any way justify China’s telling Jeremy to “Just get rid of it” and then later agreeing to testify against him in court for getting rid of it?
2. What was your immediate reaction to reading the story? Take a day or two away from the story and then write your reaction after having some time to digest it.

When reading a text, different aspects of a text, different points an author makes, or different interpretations of certain aspects and points are different for different readers. When reading “On Being Moved by Art,” what are one or two aspects/points that stood out to you and why?
