Lydia, I’m glad you took my suggestion and created a virtual tour of Chinatown. I enjoyed your presentation a lot. In both your research paper and your presentation, I was struck by the fact that there are two big forces at work in Chinatown. One is gentrification, which you address quite a bit. The other is tourism, and I wish that you had given some more thought to what it means for Chinatown to be a tourist destination and for so much of the neighborhood’s economy to be based on revenue from tourists. This seems like not just an issue of economics, but also about the identity and character of the neighborhood. Thanks for sharing Chinatown with us!
