My preliminary thesis is the debate on whether or not professional athletes are overpaid. Some say they do not provide society with an essential function that improves or strengthens our world, in comparison to other professionals such as medical doctors, firefighters, and teachers. I plan on researching various articles about the topic of their salaries, and analyzing the data collected. Some obstacles I may run into while conducting my research are finding statistical data rather than only opinionated writings. This topic is interesting to me because I remain entertained through watching professional sports. However, I believe the pay entertainment careers receive over life saving careers is definitely a question that needs to be taken into consideration. I care about this topic because I enjoy watching sports and want to see the effects of this issue in the long run. Readers should become aware about how economics is the key to understanding why these athletes earn such enormous salaries, and justify why they actually deserve it.
