When I first heard of the Wikipedia project, I was intrigued by the idea of being able to contribute to an article. I still have a bit of trouble navigating some of the features of the site but the training modules have definitely helped. Our group chose to edit the article “Religious music,” which needs citations and requires expansion in almost every section. In addition to the Discord text channel, we have also made a group chat on iMessage. Everyone has been very responsive so far, so we have been able to join the voice channel and complete some work together. For the project proposal, our group decided to take the questions from the assignment description and split them amongst ourselves, each answering one question. Since our article is already split into sections of genres of religious music, it was easy to split up the work for the development of the article. Since then, we each chose 2 genres of religious music to focus on researching and writing about. As for the lead, if time suffices, we plan on working on it together after we have each contributed to each of our own individual sections. Right now, we are focusing on finding relevant and reliable sources to refer to in our writing. Going forward, I am worried about the tone I should set in my writing versus the tone I will actually set. I will probably refer back to some of the training modules about that. As mentioned in class, I believe that we are all looking forward to that sense of accomplishment after completing the project. I will also definitely grow as a writer.
