Jacob and Esau were the sons of Isaac and Rebekah. They are twins but growing up in completely two different characters. According to Jacob’s word in Genesis 27, “Look, Esau my brother is a hairy men and I am a smooth-skinned men…” That’s mean, Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the open country. And Jacob was a quiet man, staying among the tents. The interesting thing is, because of the two different characters upon Jacob and Esau, as a man, Isaac, Jacob and Esau’s father, love Esau most. And their mother, Rebekah love her second son Jacob.
the figure show that Isaac blessing Jacob
In Genesis 27, when Isaac was old, he would like Esau to make a dish so that he could bless Esau before he die. While Esau went out and prepare for the dish, Rebekah told this to her younger son, Jacob to make a dish for his father, and took Esau’s garments, put them on Jacob, and cheated Isaac. Isaac considered that the man who gave him a dish is Esau, so he bless him. Before this, Esau thought that the “birthright” should belong to him, because he was the first born, but the God had explained to their mother that he wanted Jacob to be the real heir of the promise. So now, Esau was not only losing his “birthright”, but also the bless from his father. When Esau found that his blessing had been given to Jacob, he threatened to kill his brother. And again, Rebekah, told Jacob that his brother want to kill him, and Jacob fled to Haran.
