Hello!
My name is Jonathan Alas, I don’t mind what I’m called, Jon or Jonathan is fine. My pronouns are he/him. I am a political science major and I am a junior at Baruch. I transferred here this semester from Nassau Community College. I have a dog his name is Rocko and he is an 11 year old Rottweiler. I hope to get a cat soon as well, I am just trying to convince my parents. I am not sure what I want to do after college, I have a few ideas. I am definitely sure that I do want to run for public office and hope to be a congressman one day. I look forward to this class and to the success for us all in it!

In my original post I forgot to include a text that left a lasting impression on me, here I will write on it.
A text that left a lasting impression for me was the movie “Interstellar” written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan. The movie, for me, put into perspective just how small and miniscule humanity and society is in this universe. The universe and space is so vast that, realistically, our problems of today are nothing. The movie also made me feel how important love and human connection are as that is one of the few things that surpasses the laws of the universe. No matter where we are, whether we are alive or dead, or in complete different parts of the universe, as long as you love or are loved, you will feel it no matter the distance in between. Interstellar is a text that completely redirected my life and for that I am eternally grateful.
