Agrarian Leader Zapata

Agrarian Leader Zapata created in 1931 was painted by a Mexican painter Diego Rivera. This painting shows the slain revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata during 1879 to 1919 and the campesinos and the farm working followed him.

When I visited the MOMA, few paint attract me but  Agrarian Leader Zapata attracted me the most. At first I look at this paint I thought their was a war going on. However, in-depth knowledge I find out Rivera portrayed Zapata as a leader of the peasant movement leader, on the paint Rivera draw  the bodies of ranchers lay on his feet. I think Rivera is a creative and legendary man, according to his biographer, Mariano Rivera’s mouth in his later years, he use his own past experiences I think  which have been his own legend. In this mural, I think he wanted to represent Zapata as a sympathy toiling masses of the revolutionary leader. As a good rider, Zapata often claim to be “cowboy”, dressed in fine clothes, tight riding pants silvery bright decoration. But in this paint Zapata dressed very simplicity it positioning does not fully comply with Zapata idea of “cowboy.” For me the way Zapata dress it is a little unexpected of what I think during this painting. It only use two color to shows the clothes of the people on the painting: white Zapata and his farm working, and brown the bodies of ranchers. Zapata he is a Mexican bourgeois revolutionary leader, but during this picture his simplicity white clothe let me feel ironic I think it is belong to the civilians.

Durning Down the House: The revisionary Paradigm of Jean Rhys’s

“Whether I have any right to do it is a question which I’ll face later.”

After I read this chapter and look at the critical on the book. I find out Rhys’s revision career the critical readers. Also it is target at feminist marker. This is complete different as the marker value at that time. However, different people always have different way to think and their point view are totally different. Just like Rhys use the novels three sections to move the read go in deep and deep to Rochester’s first wife Bertha’s world. She is a unlunck women. When we think we will think Jane Eyre is more and more lunck than Antoinette. To be honest, I think Jane Eyre and Antoinette have a lot same place. Even auther change her to Bertha Antoinette Mason creates a new person to make this lie more look like true. As the author describes whether we can have the right to face all of these lies. To be honest, it let me remember when Jane Eyre was litter she is also very extreme. But during the after life she met the right person so she have the different opinion of Bertha. And at the end Jane and Rochester live together happily. But Antoinette put herself in fire and burn it down. It full performance for each approach the things differently. I think this also is the part make reader interest and think more about the things happen in the story.

Family Romance

After me reading Freud thinking, I agree with the idea Freud have. Like Freud mention in the beginning of his article “The liberation of an individual, as he grows up, from the author it of his parents is one of the most necessary though one of the most painful results brought about by the course of his development.” Actually parents is child learning model. Parents are the faith of children original source. Every child’s grow are influence by their parents. When we was litter have parents just like have the small world in our hand. We will depend on they be angry on them. We can realize when they are mad for what we did. We start to against them. I think this is means we are grow up don’t want them to control us. When that time come parents are not communicate very well with their children. I think   this is the start of mental problems, and family problem. They will think that parents are no longer care about them loved them. Especially in the case of have brother or sister. This will shows the bright contrast. These can be the effect cause the distorted of child’s character. May became very silent and quiet. May also become very radical.

Song of myself

Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself” is a pome that shows untranslatable self. In this poem the Walt Whitman he fully use words to express the people they have unlimited potential. Just like the what he write in this pome “I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard,Nature without check with original energy.” These language told us what he beliefs. He believed untranslatable self and personal identity. Walt Whitman use what he has is what he are in the beginning of the pome. Then he use that to search natural to explore new things during the nature. In exploring the changing constantly, in the end, he gave a definition. I think the definition Walt Whitman give is “untranslatable self”. Like to find or exploring the ego is a subjective experience, can’t explain to others in the process of what’s going on. As Walt Whitman said everyone is equally, but they all have they own life. You are you even identity changed. You still are the one can not be replaced and translate to other person. Everyone are untranslatable during the world.

Jane X Emily

“Hope” is the thing with feathers this poem apt metaphor for Jane Eyre’s life. Emily Dickinson write hope is the thing with feathers, perches in the soul, sweetest, and sore in storm. This is how Jane Eyre’s life look like. When she was little based on her aunt’s jealousy and not keep her promise, so she got the unfair treatment. Finally leave her aunt’s house to the school and got her first friend. But Helen die when they get along well. I think this also is a turning point for her life. Just like Emily mentioned in her poem sweetest, and sore in storm. Jane Eyre has gradually become a strong, knowledge, and hope women. In chapter 25 to 26 when Jane Eyre are going to get her happiness storm coming. She know Mr. Rochester has a wife and still a life. However, it never stop Jane Eyre she standing up for herself. She is like “the bird” in Emily’s poem full with hopeful no matter how hard and strong the storm was happen in her life. All of then clearly expressed hope has always been there.

Jane Eyre

After reading the first 12 chapters from Jane Eyre and Lorde’s two articles. I find out Jane Eyre and the black lesbian poet they are all beginning their life in a silent way then transformation that silence into the language and action for their life later. When Jane is little she like to stay in a corner by herself reading the book and imagine the things that happen during the book. But, after her aunt lock her in the “red-room” for one night she stated to change and try to speak out for herself. That make when Mr.Lloyd come she told him about the  red-room and how her aunt treat her. This is the first time she stand out to revolt her life. However, when she has to leave Gateshead Hall she clear told her aunt about she don’t like her and she will told everyone how she treat her after her uncle die. When Jane’s uncle still a life they promise they will treat her like their own child. After her uncle die Jane’s life suddenly fell from heaven to hell. The contrast is too strong for a little girl. The way Jane action makes she have the opportunity to leave the “cage” to go to school. That make her has the opportunity to contact education and learn about knowledge. Jane’s life has a great change. Based on Lord articles silence will only hurt yourself in the end. Silence doesn’t change the things , it will make these things become more and more worse. Kujichagulia mention “the decision to define ourselves … speak for ourselves.” Therefor, both of their self-realization shows SPEAK OUT will transition the way you are and your life.

Sublime

乌镇旅游风景区图片

This is a photo of WuZhen. WuZhen is a typical ancient town of the Yangtze River in the south of the Yangtze River, with the name of “Yumizhixiang, Silk House”. This is a very famous place of my hometown it is one of the ZheJiang Province historical and cultural city. It fully shows the tradition way of Chinese cultural from preserved to now. Our thoughts, emotions originate in sublime and many advanced thinking based on culture and heritage. Before I may never think about what is sublime and why is it in our life? But through these few article now I look back at this picture. It let me know the origin of Chinese silk culture are from my hometown. How the ancestors created and overcome these change past the wealth to us. When we review what these ancestor did and leave for us. I don’t know how other people feel, but I can find out these feelings and existing are in my memory. Maybe that is what sublime bring to me. The historical and cultural handed down from ancestors are sublime to me.

The Enlightenment in Europe and the Americas

From the article “The Enlightenment in Europe and the Americas”, the author use France and England’s their tiny change during last seventeenth as an example of the being of enlightenment. Also, the author describes the difference between the enlightenment and now modern, because these events and influence happened on enlightenment it slowly create the modern day we have today. The new thing start to development in this period, the improvement of the science. All these thing cause people began to doubt the existence of god. Enlightenment thinkers people can believe themselves don’t need to seeking priest and prince these high lever socials help. Our today’s world are just like the enlightenment have the different gap; the upper class, the middle class, and the lower class. These like us believe our self-more and more. Believe our judgment insist our doubts. This is how humans change the truth from divine revelation. The people started to know more and more knowledge; science, statistics, history, literature. The changing makes more and more people start to question the society, when the people got to the different social class there are more and more problems coming out. During the past men and women don’t have the equal rights the man they have much more power then women. On the last seventeenth century women in the enlightenment as the important characters, they “presiding over SALONS,” writing novels… However, in today’s social they started to have the equal right as men do. I think the freedom of speech, equality between women and men. The enlightenment started a critical turning point. It just like a button thoroughly changed the world’s old style to the modern period that we have right now.
