Wanted to share a great piece from The Atlantic: “Reading A Poem: 20 Strategies.”
Do any of these ring true to you? Remind you of your experiences reading any of the poems we’ve read for this class?

I found this artical very helpful! I especially liked number 3. Where you have to meet the poem on its own terms not yours. In other words don’t try to make it relate to you try to see what it offers you. Many times, especially when reading short poems that are hard to understand, I find myself trying to relate the poem to my own life experiences. but in fact the poem on its own had a lot to offer and if I only relate it to my own life and experiences I might be missing out on a lot of contet the poem has to offer. This is an important point I would like to try and change when reading poems.
