The purpose of the statistics boot camp is to acquaint students with some of the fundamental concepts they will find most useful as they prepare for the statistics classes in their programs. Topics covered include the most important foundational concepts of basic probability: counting rules, methods of probability assignment, probability distributions, events, and conditional probability. Also covered are several basic but widely-used measures of descriptive statistics: the mean, median, percentiles, geometric means, variance, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation.
