Sound Issues

Lynda was confusing to some for sound.  For a quick intro to using sound in Premiere – look here especially for how to gradually change the volume of your sound recording inserted into your sequence.

PROBLEMS SAVING AUDIO IN PROJECT

Don’t test saving and exporting your work until the last minute.  So many things can go wrong.  Some students have had problems last class with saving to external hard drives (thunderbolt drives don’t seem to be a problem, USB2 drives seem to be more prone to issues).  Other students were not able to save the audio at all.  Test it out as you go along.  Import sound through your media browser into the project panel or time line.  Check your compression settings for audio for export.  Look at the original format of your sound.

HANDY RECORDER

There are still some H2 Handy Recorders available at the library.  Check it at the library to make sure it is in working order (away from the desk – they are busy!  Capture some library noise!)

Record in WAV 44.1 Hz /6 bit rate.  Go to Menu>Rec Mode.

You can only hear your recordings through headphones or speakers.  Make sure you are putting your headphones in the right place.  NOT Line in and NOT Ext Mic in.  Headphones go in Line Out.
