Welcome to my portfolio here, you will find different assignments that have helped me with my progress to meet the objectives of this class.

First off, the most meaningful assignment has been the narrative essay because it has allowed me to reflect upon the decisions that I have made in the beginning stages of being an adult. That essay helped me analyze my overall academic thinking and skills to be able to meet the requirements of the assignment. The most surprising aspect of this semester was the class’s workload and responsibilities because it was way different than high school. I had to boost myself up because, at times, I was stressed. In addition, I had to deal with all the decision makings because I had to think carefully so that I would not regret my decision later. 

I was able to meet the objective of reading and analyzing texts critically by looking over each text’s purpose, audience, and genre. I could recognize text that would enable me to expand more in my writing or even help support my thesis. I looked over at the text that would not only give me evidence but that was accurate for my assignments. I have used the text to develop critical thinking for projecting my assignments to interpret them. I used this objective to observe how authors structure their writing, use language or even engage the readers.

I wrote my text critically by writing to different audiences in some of the assignments which were a cover letter, narrative essay, research paper, and blog post. I was able to write my text by analyzing and gathering the appropriate words for the audience. Like if I had to write informally or formally, I had to recognize that every assignment had to have a proper argument with a perspective and had to interpret it. I also had to make connections for my research essay. Writing my text critically helped me express my own thoughts, develop my communication skill, foster my academic thinking, and much more. 

I was able to identify sources of information and evidence credible to my audience by choosing sources that would help give more evidence to my thesis or overall research topic. I was able to summarize, interpret, and criticize the arguments of others by doing it in my research essay with multiple sources. I avoided plagiarism by having a work cited page and a citation for each quote I used from the sources. I was able to meet the objective through my assignments by ensuring accuracy, strengthening arguments, getting more skills in research, and being able to focus on my topic to develop well-critical essays.  

I composed a process by having drafts for my narrative essay and an outline for my research paper. I had to put all my ideas in the outline or drafts because it would help me put all those arguments in my final product. In addition, I could give my narrative essay and research paper to a peer to reread it or give me feedback. I was also able to fix my first drafts by using the comments from the professor to revise my essays. Furthermore, having a process that organizes my work and time management improves the quality of my writing. 

I feel like the objective of using conventions appropriate to the audience, genre, and purpose was one that I did meet because I was writing a formal narrative essay, document design was in MLA format to academically meet the requirements. I was able to target my audience through the assignments by structuring my writing effectively, incorporating relevant content, and put the correct style and tone. 

Lastly, I am grateful for this class since it allowed me to develop my writing abilities and accomplish the course goals through the assignments.
