I chose this video because I liked the way the narrator summarized and explained what happened in the play. He would add simple characteristics to help the viewer better understand exactly how absurd Don Quixote or how different Sancho Panza was from Don Quixote. The illustrations were kept simple and colorful so it was easy to follow along.

I found it interesting that the creator of this video first draws Alonso Quixano as a king, with a crown and cloak. This represents that he is very wealthy and powerful or at least influential in his town. Alonso Quixano dreams to become a knight and to go on adventures and be chivalrous. He then is depicted as a knight for majority of the commentary since he is out on the road doing what he thinks knights do. Despite getting beat up, he is not pictured as being frail or helpless. However, after Don Quixote loses his dual with the Knight of the White Moon and has to keep his promise to stop adventuring for a year’s time, he is portrayed as an old man who can not walk without the aid of a walking cane. The narrator also says that Don Quixote “feels weak and tired and is ready to give up on the danger and strain of being a knight”. This shows maturity in Don Quixote and that he is no longer living in his fantasy world and has become aware of his surroundings and his overall wellbeing. When persuaded to not become a shepherd, his next aspiration, Don Quixote, to much of his family’s surprise, agrees to just stay home and rest. In the next illustration of Don Quixote, he looks extremely ill and frail, like the stereotypical storybook grandparents lying in bed.

I like how this video started out with Alonso Quixano as a strong wealthy king and then him being depicted as an ill old man lying in bed in his gray depressing looking nightgown looking sad and physically and emotionally worn out.
