Before conducting my research on the topic of learning versus grades, I had a preconceived notion that the importance of learning would outweigh the value of grades. However, as I dived deeper into the research, I was surprised by the insights that I discovered.

Through my research, I came to understand that grades are just a measure of academic performance, but may not reflect the full range of a student’s abilities. Where the focus on grades results in neglect of the process of learning itself, when it is the focus we need to prioritize.

Learning involves acquiring knowledge and skills that can be applied in various contexts. Prioritizing learning over grades can help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, which are essential for success in the real world.

As I reflected on these findings, I realized that I needed to change my approach to academics. While I had somewhat valued the learning process, I also placed a lot of pressure and focused on myself to achieve high grades before this research essay. Through my research, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of both learning and grades and how they can work together to promote academic success.

Overall, the research essay process was a valuable learning experience for me. It taught me how to conduct research effectively, synthesize information, and develop a compelling argument. Furthermore, it helped me to rethink my approach to academics and prioritize learning over grades, which will undoubtedly benefit me in the long run.
