Publication Rationale
For my remediation project, I chose to focus on homeless people and the single story that exists about them. Many people believe them to be filthy, lazy, and addicted to drugs and alcohol. I created an iMovie would could easily be uploaded to YouTube and shared to the public. Though, I would not want to publish this piece because it could definitely be more informative, therefore being more persuasive to the audience. My audience, for the iMovie, was the general public since many members are guilty of what I am trying to portray, which is the dehumanization of the homeless.
If I had more time and resources for this project, I would have incorporated more videos so that the voices and stories of homeless people could be heard. It would also add more credibility to my topic since as of now, I only have one video of a homeless man expressing his dismay towards the treatment he receives when panhandling. Someone could watch my video and make the argument that “that’s only the story of one homeless individual; the rest could still be filthy, lazy and addicted.” I would also add better transitioning scenes so that the video “flows” in a better manner. If I were to publish this assignment, I would want it to have a much larger impact on the audience.
