Personal Enrichment: Mediating Conflict

It was quite ironic that the workshop delt with dealing with conflicts and resolving them. For the reason that from the very beginning there was an issue with the number of people who could attend it. Some of us, including myself, had registered for the workshop online. However, the moment we arrived to the room we were being told that the workshop was full and we would not be able to attend. In addition, a certain individual informed us that it was not necessary for us to register when we clearly did a few days ago. It turned out that they allowed more students in, exceeding the room’s capacity, and turned away the rest of the people. In the end there were students who were able to attend the workshop but who had not registered for it. In the worskshop the speaker encouraged us to speak to the person responsible for this and have our voices heard. She taught us that it is imperative that we communicate with one another when there is conflict and try to come to a solution. Overall, it is not good to simply let it fester and possibly grow bigger nor confront it in an aggressive manner.
