Basic Interviewing techniques

I went to this workshop like 3 weeks ago on the 29th so i do not fully remember what the lady said. She mainly just speak about what interviewers look for during an interview. This stuff is common sense and very repetitive because i hear this speech every half year. She talked about dressing to impress. The most common question that i had to be aware about was “tell me about yourself”. I think that this question will probably be one of the hardest because if you say one bad thing about yourself, it may affect you whole interview. One technique that was new to me is the eyebrow technique. She explained that if you get nervous looking at the eyes, look at the eyebrows. I think that this technique might be very useful because I get nervous very easily, especially when it comes to talking. She made us do a brief exercise with the person next to us. We had to be the interviewer and interviewee.

One Response to Basic Interviewing techniques

  1. Katherine Wu says:

I think the technique with the eyebrow would be useful because many people get nervous during interviews. The thought of the pressure and spot light on your answer makes it even more nerve wrecking. Another trick I learned is that you should pause and think about your answer before answering to prepare your answer so you won’t look stupid or anything with the “umm” and “likes” or awkward pauses. I hope I’ll be able to use the techniques you shared from your experience in the workshop in my next interview. (:
