I went to the Diversity Leadership Workshop and it was very empowering as well as interesting. For a general view on Baruch, I don’t believe that it is VERY diverse (I mean I see a lot of Asian people everywhere, lol) but I do believe that is diverse in comparison to other colleges and universities. The workshop was very interesting because it made me realize that being in a diverse school has its advantages by meeting new people from different backgrounds and places as well as making connections with people for future references or anything. The workshop made me realize that although the school is very diverse, it doesn’t stop many of the student body from interacting with one another and getting to embody different cultures and ideas. I agree Baruch has alot of asian people but you have to like it since it is all our brothers and sisters ( jk). Anyway being in a diverse school has its advantages and disadvantages but I like it alot. Before choosing to come to Baruch, I visited other colleges upstate and majority of them are white people. Not to be racist or anything, it felt like I didn’t belong there. Many people hang out in groups and I saw no connection with them what so ever. Being in a diverse school, its not as awkward because we tend to be respectful towards one another and put race on the side.
