This session was recommended by my History professor. Though a good percentage of the crowd was composed of people coming in order to get extra credit, some were clearly interested in the topic at hand. My lasting impression came from me coming up to my professor after the lecture and having a discussion on Obama’s mainstream appeal leading up to the election, when another professor, Prof. Feit, joined our discussion. She and I had a fruitful discussion on the significance of race and culture in defining a people and a leading figure. She invited me to stop by her office to further discuss the issue, and I have done so from time to time during the semester. Because of this, I would have to say that the lecture was the most valuable workshop I went to, as it not only gave me an understanding of the chosen topic, but of the way in which to approach a professor when wanting to have an intellectual discourse that will stimulate the mind and lead to further academic success.

i found this workshop interesting, it was definitely an enlightening experience. some points she made i could defintely agree with, yet it also boggled me at this day and age someones credential are secondary to their race or ethnicity when it comes to their accomplishments. i thought about this for a while then ended up falling asleep again. :/
