i read the first couple of pages from the handbook and found it pretty helpful. it gave me a better understanding of blackboard and sacc tutoring. i also learned that there is a writing center you can go to and get help with essays so that should be pretty helpful

08/31 Class Notes:
Hello BEG1b,
I just wanted to do a quick recap of the important things to remember from today’s class. This is also for any of you who missed the class. REMEMBER ATTENDANCE and BEING ON TIME IS ESSENTIAL for passing the class!
The goals of today’s class:
- To welcome students to the College and ease you guys into conversations with each other.
- Establish my role as peer mentor and your roles as students in the course and at Baruch College.
- Allow you guys to understand College Culture and what to expect in your first year.
- Class guidelines and expectations.
You received your Planners today, and as I stated in class, they are so important for you to use and bring to each freshman seminar class. I showed you some of the important pages in it for your freshman seminar experience such as pages 33 and 35. I also asked that you all take some time to go over the first 50 or so pages during your free time so that you can get more information about Baruch.
We also had some fun getting to know each other in a speed meeting round which we will continue quickly at our next session.
Lastly, we went over Baruch Culture.
Blog about your first day of classes! Share what surprised you, what you liked, or look forward to…
The other 1/2 of the group DID NOT leave (:
The Freshman Convocation thing was alright. The poet scared me a little and Teresa Parker made the Convocation lively and entertaining. The thing that I didn’t like was the schedule being messed up and half of the group was waiting on the 10th floor to see if anyone was coming back to see if we were there. We had our own little tour though in the Library and we went to the park to talk, so it was good. I look forward to meeting new people. (:
Welcome Week Events Hosted by USG and WBMB Radio
Here is a flyer with all of the welcome week activities. I hope you all take advantage of them and have a great time while making new friends and getting more familiar with Baruch! Continue reading
Welcome BEG1b! On Your Mark, Get Set, BLOG!
Hello BEG1b’ers!
I want to officially welcome you all to Baruch College and our new spot in the blogosphere! I am so excited to be the instructor for this freshman seminar class. I can tell that you guys are a great group and we are definitely going to have an interesting, productive, and enjoyable semester. I have so many things planned for you this semester and with your help, we are going to have a lot of fun, while ensuring that your transition from high school to college, and first semester freshman to second semester freshman is as smooth as possible!
Although I will go into more detail about the role of this Blog and the Baruch Freshman Seminar Blogs in general I want to informally introduce you all here with this first blogpost. I encourage you all to take advantage of this unique platform for communication and literary expression and contribute as much as possible to the success of the blog and the ultimate success of the class.
For your first assignment I would like for you all to get acclimated with the blog and your role as author. As an author you will be able to contribute blog posts, edit, comment, and delete them as well. Your first blog post should be a brief comment about Freshman Convocation Day, this can include something about the best part of the day, what worked and what did not, and what you look forward to in regards to your classes after having had a day of fun and learning before classes. It can be brief, but make it unique. I love to read interesting headlines and content so go wild, not too wild though, lol, and have fun as you are all first time bloggers! Be sure to edit and proof your posts.
Comment on the blogs of your peers as well! Have Fun!
See you all on MONDAY 9:05- 10:20 RM: VC3-195
