I went to the Personal relationships workshop for the personal enrichment requirement. At this workshop, I learned about how to successfully manage personal relationship while still prospering at college. Unfortunately, the workshop was long and some what boring. However, in the end it was informative.
Academic Enrichment
For the academic enrichment workshop I attended Database Survival. Personally, I did not enjoy the workshop because it was boring, but at the same time it was informative and only half an hour long. As a first semester freshman, it was a good choice for me to attend this workshop because now I know how to use Baruch’s database which will help me in the future.
Student Life
For the student life workshop, I went to the club fair. I was excited to go to the fair because it would introduce me to student organizations. Even though I did learn about clubs, the club fair was very crowded and chaotic, so I ended up leaving early. Even still the club fair is a workshop that every student should attend. In the end, I did have a good time.
Community-Global Awareness
For the Community-Global Awareness workshop, I went to the study abroad fair. I have always thought that studying abroad would be a great experience. Learning about this, increased my interest in studying abroad. I think this workshop would be great for someone who wants a unique and different experience.
Career Exploration Workshop
I went to the career planning workshop on Internships and goal setting. Even though the workshop was more then a hour long, I actually found it time well spent. I did not know much about internships before, but after this workshop I knew everything I could possibly know! They also provided us with a booklet with all of the information that we went over in the workshop, so this way I have it whenever I decide to apply for an internship. I learned about the STAR center which helps students find internships that they are interested in. I know that I will definitely visit the STAR Center during my years at Baruch. I would recommend this workshop to everyone.
Managing Relationships in College
Managing Relationships in College was a pretty cool workshop. We were able to meet some new people at Baruch and taught us basic relationship techniques which was a little boring. Overall it was a decent way to get to know your peers and “maintain relationships”.
Gallery Tour
Gallery Tour : The Nature of Landscape was an interesting workshop which consisted of many paintings, photographers, and different perspectives. There were many different scenes to look at as each had a different meaning behind every picture. The instructor who guided us throughout the tour was very experienced and nice making it simpler to differentiate between the content of the photography. There were many cool pictures along with a cool tour!
Freshman Reception
Freshman Reception was overpopulated and very unorganized. I stood there for a good hour doing absolutely nothing until they told us all to leave. They did not expect that many people to show up and therefore the workshop was a disaster!
Diversity Leadership Workshop
The Diversity Leadership Workshop was a great workshop to be apart of. It emphasized how Baruch is amongst the most racially diverse schools in the nation and how everyone is still bonded together. Diversity should not change or affect the way we treat others, sort of like not to judge a book by its cover. The fact that Baruch is so diverse is what should make us come even closer together.
Library Workshop
The Library Workshop was a great enrichment workshop which helped me understand more about Baruch’s library and what it has to offer. As a freshman, it was hard to figure out how to borrow and return books, how to find books on the shelves, and how to access computers in the library. Also, it was confusing at first to use the copiers and scanners which was also easily explained in this workshop. We took a look at the E-Library as well and found out how easy it is to look up books online which you may need to borrow and use. The Library Workshop was overall a great enrichment workshop and made the library a more suitable environment to work at.
