Gallery Tour – 10/13/09

For the “Arts at Baruch” workshop, I went to a Gallery Tour at Sidney Mishkin Gallery. The tour was based on landscapes. We went through each piece of art and our tour guide talked a bit about the technique that the artist used or the symbolism of the art work. One piece that I remember was of a icicles on a wooden fence. There were two representations of the icicles. One was a greyscale larger piece; the other was a smaller version, in a completely blue hue. I didn’t realize that they were both the same image, just with different effects, until our tour guide pointed it out. That was one of the interesting things that stood out to me. Art is always full of creativity, which is why I enjoyed taking the time to attend this tour!
