Managing Relationships – 10/8/09

This workshop dealt with the how we handle relationships while adjusting to college life. The speaker talked about the new freedoms that come with being in college and how this impacts our relationship with our parents. For me, personally, I feel like trust is what determines how much the relationship between parents and their child change. If there is already a sense of trust there, then there shouldn’t be any grave concern over how the child will behave in college. Another type of relationship that the speaker addressed was an actual relationship. I remember her mentioning how some people might find it difficult adjusting to not seeing their close friends of their significant others no a daily basis. I can definitely relate to this because it has taken some adjusting for me to get use to the fact that I won’t be able to speak to my friends everyday. Overall, the workshop provided very basic information and was simple to understand.
