This was a great workship since it was very quick and it was a great way to great a lot of freshmen to come there. Once i came in i was basically kicked out because there were so many people. I didnt really get any point out of this workshop but it was nice and fast
Student Life Workshop- Club Fair
This was an interesting workshop since it was a fair with a lot of clubs advertising who they are and what they are about. I looked over some of these clubs and it didn’t really interest me and i didn’t think that i had enough time for them since i had to go to college and then work so most of my time was occupied. This was a good place to meet people and check out how many clubs there were in Baruch. This was very helpful and might be good if i think about joining clubs in the future to get some extra activities. This was a good workshop because it showed the other side of Baruch.
Personal Enrichment Workshop- Managing relationships
This workshop had to do with how to manage your different relationships and what might change while your in college. Some of the things were having less time with your family and how to meet new friends in college. They also talked about how the amount of work changes from high school and this helped because i wasn’t used to doing this much work and a lot has changed. Overall this was an ok workshop but for this category i should have choose another one.
Career Exploration Workshop- Basic Interviewing Skills
This is one of the workshops which could help out in the future since it gave hints and notes on interviewing which is very important for a future career. In the beginning we got booklets explaining about different materials and then a person spoke. This person pointed out many things that you should do before an interviews and alot of these were very helpful such as having good eye contact and speaking properly. This was a good overall workshop and may help in the future.
Arts at Baruch- Gallery Tour
For the gallery tour i went to the Mishkin gallery. On the tour the people showed many different paints and works of art which were donated by other people. Each of the paintings were also explained to us in further detail too. This was one of the better workshops since it involved very little and we were able to see what kind of art was at baruch.
Annual Students Services Fair 10/13
The studen fair took place on October 13th in the MultiPurpose Room from 12:30-2:00. This was the very first workshop I attended and introduced me to the services Baruch College had to offer. It was fun walking around and learning about TEAM Baruch, the SACC, Financial Aid, Student life, Studying Abroad, the Writing Center, Athletics, and Academic Advisement. There was so many more, but I cant remember all of them. This was a very important workshop, especially for a freshman. I was able to learn about all the services offered and take advantage of them. I was amazed at the amount of choices baruch had to offer..at no cost. If you didnt attend this workshop, a big a loss for you.
Managing Relationships – 10/8/09
I felt that the advice presented about relationships between family and friends during college was a bit obvious. They made it seem like our relationships will be drasticalyl effected now that we are in college, but personally I do not see a difference from when I was in high school. I still have time to spend time with my friends and family. They did make good points though about making as many friends as you can because we will never be in an environment with so many kids around our age. They this is the place to meet people and I agree. Also, they said that we should make friends with upperclassman so we can have connections to internships and jobs.
