Last Thursday, Baruch’s freshman were invited to attend a “club fair” at the gym. At the fair, there were probably at least two dozen decorated desks that belonged to individual clubs. The desks all had banners that stated the names of each club, as well as representatives and goodies that were available for those who signed up. The variety was fairly impressive: cultural (such as F.U.S.I.O.N), political (Student Government), fraternity/maternity (the ones with all the Greek symbols), sports/games, college news paper (Twitter), various dance, and other social clubs. Some of them were rather unique, like Best Buddies which helps students befriend handicapped people and the Apple Club which is…well, dedicated to helping those who need to familiarize themselves with how to use Apple computers. Also, during the event a couple of DJs, dancers and a rapper put on a show. Some of the performances were rehearsed and many more were freestyles (improvised). Overall, I think the event was worthwhile and I would encourage all students to join at least one club at Baruch.
