Yesterday my friend and I went to this workshop in Rm 1-107 VC. The speaker was Theresa Conway, the Internship Coordinator of the SCDC. I found this workshop to be very useful because Theresa Conway gave a lot of info on internships on a powerpoint presentation and of course by talking to us as well. The topics that were discussed in this workshop were what is an internship, types of internships, leadership camps and diversity mentorship/internship organizations, ways to get involved in school, steps to get an internship, types of resumes, and how to find internship opportunities. The topic that I found to be very interesing was the types of internships. I found out that you can get school credit for internships by registering for an internship class. THAT’S AWESOME!! But Theresa said you have to wait until junior year to do this. She also gave us a little present, which is the Internship Manual from the SCDC Office. Without this workshop, I wouldn’t know much about internships if I were to tell it to someone else. I would recommend this workshop to those who are interested in doing internships sometime during college. KEY THING: DO WELL IN SCHOOL AND GET INVOLVED!!
