Mediating Conflicts and Resolving Disputes at Baruch College

On October 29 I attended at personal enrichment workshop called “Mediating Conflicts and Resolving Disputes at Baruch College”. The room was 3-190, which was the usual room for my freshman seminar class. There wasn’t a lot of room, and a lot of people were trying to get in but couldn’t because they didn’t register. A speaker came and talked to us about the different conflicts at Baruch such as peer conflicts or professor-student conflicts. She told us about the Ombuds (sp?) and how they help mediate and resolve these conflicts. At the end, we were all divided into groups for a role-playing session where there would be a conflict and the mediator has to hel with the problem while staying neutral. I played that part while the other two members of the group played a mean teacher and the complaining student. We ended up presenting last. While I don’t see myself using what I learned in the future, it could be helpful in the future just in case.
