Mediating Conflicts & Resolving Disputes at Baruch

On November 12 I attended a personal enrichment workshop called “Mediating Conflicts and Resolving Disputes at Baruch College”. It was held in room 3-190 and the room was packed and about 20 people had to sit on the floor. A lot of people were trying to come in after the room was full and were told to go to another workshop. Also even though you had to register for the workshop, nobody checked to see if you registered. That created a big problem because people who did not register were sitting in the workshop while some people who registered were told to go to another workshop. A speaker came and asked us what we believed some of the conflicts were at Baruch and added onto from there. She told us about the Ombuds and how they help mediate and resolve these conflicts after you attempted to resolve the problem yourself first. At the end those of us who got to stay in the workshop got into a debate about the workshop scheduals.  Most of the people were complaining that there weren’t enough Community-Global Awareness, Academic Enrichment, and Arts at Baruch workshops becuase if you didn’t do those workshops in the first month of school, you wouldn’t be able to do them anymore. So in return our speaker gave us a list of names that we could bring up this issue to and make a complaint.
