This workshop was very helpful because it focused on the importance of networking in college. When you are part of a large networking community, it helps you in finding a good job once you graduate.
Relationships can be big part of how well you do in college because they do affect you in one way or another. The lecturer first started off with talking about how our relationships with our parents or other family members have changed since we started college. She talked about how starting college can bring a lot of change into the relationships because as a student, you’re really occupied and have very little time to spend with others.
She then made us do an activity where she made us talk to 5 random people around the room. It was intimidating because I am a really shy person and I felt awkward talking to a random person at first. But I did talk to a few people.
She also talked about intimate relationships and how they can affect us as well in our academic success. They can distract us especially if they’re long distance. Some may not even last long because of the distance.
Finally, she gave us a website that she recommended signing up for. It’s called Linkedin.com; she said it’s similar to Facebook but it’s used to get jobs and have networks.
Through this workshop, i learned the importance of networking and relationships because both factors can have a great impact on how successful you are during and after college.
That’s right! Relationships are a big factor of our lives and it affects how well we do in school, work and everything else. I hope you felt more comfortable after you talked to some random people, it will be helpful in the near future.
