On Thursday November 12th, I attended the Career Exploration workshop. By far, this has probably been my favorite workshop. At this workshop, we watched a Powerpoint presentation about interviewing skills. I selected this particular workshop, honestly, because I needed to fulfill this requirement and I had nothing else to do that day. But I’m glad I chose this Career Exploration workshop in particular. This workshop didn’t necessarily take me out of my comfort zone because we didn’t have to interact with other students, we only watched Jennifer Rogers (who bears some resemblance to Tina Fey) give her presentation.
I would recommend this workshop to another student because it was very easy and all you had to do was fill out a survey. The attendance was very low for this workshop and to me, that made it less intimidating because the multipurpose room wasn’t quite full. I learned a few things from this workshop. For one, it had never occurred to me that there was so much reading material about companies; we were then shown how one can obtain the material that we should read before going on an interview- this was interesting to me. Also, I had always thought that when a man wears a black suit to an interview, it showed a sense of professionalism. However, this workshop taught me that it’s best for a man to not wear black suits and they should wear charcoal-colored or navy blue suits.
Every student should go to this workshop- it was fast, easy and very informative.
Did you learn what women should wear too?
