I attended a global-community awareness workshop on November 12. I believe that the workshop meant to focus on a gay politician Alfonso Quiroz and the struggles hes faced due to be openly gay. However, he instead talked about his life and the problems hes faced due to his nationality and being openly gay. He was very confident and was very interesting. He told us about his interning at the white house and working at MTV. He also shined a new light on being gay. He said that most people think that gay men wear feather boas and glitter, however most do not. He also briefly talked about how he told his parents and his friends. Overall it was a very interesting workshop and helped me see another way to the gay issue. I would definitely recommend this workshop. It was informative without dragging it out.
