This was a workshop where a politician Alfonso Quiroz talked about his time being involved in the business and political world. During his presentation to us he talked about difficulties that he has encountered through people not always taking him seriously in politics and his career. I think that his main focus was to show us that it is okay to be who you are and not try to hide it just because you are being ridiculed for it. He talked about discrimination not only based on his sexual orientation but also for his Hispanic ethnicity. I felt that this workshop was very interesting and he was able to get his points across because he was very confident and honest with us. I really enjoyed this workshop because I come from a Hispanic background as well and I am constantly told by my mother of all of the discrimination that is present in some workplaces. I hope to never encounter any myself, but if ever I will know to not be ashamed of who I am. I would definitely go on to recommend this workshop to other incoming freshmen because it gives you a different perspective on things and shows you some hidden truths about what you may or may not encounter in the future. 🙂
I really did! It was definitely one of the more interesting.
Great post! Most of you seem to have enjoyed this workshop!
