Library Tour

The library tour was very helpful because I found out how easy and accessible it was to borrow calculators, laptops, study rooms. I also saw that whenever I needed a quiet place to study or do homework, that at any time I could go to the tables at the third floor. it was also very helpful to know that if I ever needed to print work at school, that I had $100 worth of printing and i have been using it so far. I think I will be spending quite a lot of time at the library now that I know I can do so much rather than just go read.

The Freshman Reception 9-17-09 @ 12:30-1:00

So the reception was a little crazy because it was so packed, so for a while I really didn’t know what to do except stand around. Eventually everyone left and I decided to stay to listen to the counselor. Basically she was teaching us about what classes to pick next semester to fill our tier 1,2, and 3 requirements. She also talked to us about when to get everything done to make sure we have our spot in Ziklin secured.

I thought this workshop was very useful because it really helped me decide what classes I should register for next semester, and even set some goals for this semester (such as take my simnet exam). Before going to this workshop I was going to pick totally different classes such as art or any required classes that I needed to graduate but I learned that its more important to take the classes I need to declare my major.  This workshop was very informative.

I would definitely recommend this to any student only because it was very informative but I do believe that the workshop was very unorganized and should have been better planned. There were too many students and very little space and many students had to leave without learning anything. The workshop didn’t really take me out of my comfort zone because it was too crowded and chaotic, so I didn’t get to do much.

Hopefully next time it will be better for any students who want to attend it. It was a great learning experience and really helped me make many decisions that I had trouble with earlier.

Academic Enrichment

Well i am not exactly sure what i learned from this one because…well..they didn’t really say anything…I don’t think they were expecting so many people to show up so a lot of us didn’t even get the folders. So i have to go back on Monday which is sad because i was looking forward to the refreshments and what not. i was also looking forward to the the raffle =D. i did feel sorry for the poor lady though because she had to sign so many books.

anyway, i hope everyone has an awesome weekend.

[after Monday….]

I did get the application when i went back on Monday and i was kind of overwhelmed because i don’t even know what major i want to do, let alone a minor. So i hope to figure that out soon.

I wish i could recommend this workshop to others but i didn’t really get anything out of it so i don’t know. I think that next time they should anticipate a larger crowd and pick somewhere big to do it. if not, then they shouldn’t be sending out so many postcards inviting everyone because the bottom line is, we all want to get these workshops over with. so we’re all going to try to do them whenever we get the chance.

Library Basics 9-17-09 @ 1:30-2:30

The library basics workshop was teaching us how to use the library and its website. The librarian was teaching us how to borrow books and laptops, and use the online data base and resources. I learned how to search for books, borrow and renew from online and use electronic resources. Although the workshop was informative it was also very dull. I think it should be more attention grabbing to students because it is a very useful workshop.I chose this workshop because I didn’t really have knowledge of the library and how to use everything. I learned that we have 1000 pages to print every semester, (without paying extra because it’s paid in our tuition) so that was a good thing to know. Something I found very interesting is that we can make appointments with librarians if we need help with research papers. I believe that is something that will definitely come to use in the future. I would recommend this workshop to other students who have little knowledge of how to use the library.

Library Tour

The library tour actually helped me out a lot because I didn’t know how much it had to offer. I didn’t know we could rent laptops out or rent out rooms to study in a group.  This library is much nicer than the one in my neighborhood. I like the fact that it’s quiet in most places and it’s an ideal place to do homework, study, or just relax. Before the tour I had only been on the first and second floor so I’m glad I got to see the top floors there. I’m definitely going to spend a lot of time doing last minute homework in there :).

Hope that’s enough.

The Library

The library tour was very beneficial. It showed how much access to resources we actually have. The library is a great place to go and get work done during those two hour breaks (which take forever) or  just to lounge around. I feel it will be a valuable resource for us over the next four years. And sorry for missing class today guys, didn’t mean to. =/

The Library Tour

okay so the library tour was interesting……..

I learned a few things that I hadn’t known before. I found out where I would be able to rent laptops from. I also learned that we could rent rooms which can be pretty helpful when you wanna form study groups. and having seen the whole library for once, i think i know where most things are. so in case i ever need to rent a laptop or whatever, i know where to go.

okay i really don’t have anything else to write. i hope this is okay =D

Library Tour (09/08/09) & Communication Skills (09/15/09)

The Library Tour that we had on September 5th was very helpful because it showed me the rest of the library and where the study rooms are, how I can access one and so on. This tour was much better than the one I was on a few months back because on that one, we were only shown the first floor.

Today we learned about efficient communication skills and what makes an effective speaker. I liked this because we were shown what makes a good public speaker and a not-so-good public speaker.

I have nothing else to write 😀

9/14/09 First Blog-Library Tour

Hi guys. Steven speaking here. Well it took me a while before i could sign up. Anyway, i have to say that it was a really nice library. Why? For one, there are plenty of comfy chairs to go around. Also, people actually keep quiet! Can you honestly tell me that you don’t appreciate the quietness in the room? Back in my H.S. my library was insanely loud. So i like it here. The private room caught my attention. It would be very handy for a project or group gathering. The only thing that i didn’t like was the computers. The sound didn’t work…. But besides that, it was pretty nice. On the side note. I am VERY ashamed that i totally forgot about 9/11 this year… Has it really been so long? Time sure passes by quickly. For those of you who know me well enough, The World Trade Center meant a lot to me. I had a lot of memories there. For those who don’t understand what i’m talking about. I took my first steps there! It was awesome and my parents even got in on Camera. If anyone lost a family, friend, or relative during 9/11, i hope i didn’t bring up any bad memories because i only have good memories of that place. That’s it for now. See you in my next post guys. I hope you enjoyed your week at Baruch.
