I attended the Saturday, Oct. 10th Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for my community service requirement. AlthoughI got there 90 minutes early, it was worth the wait because some of my students actually showed up! Having familiar faces around from Baruch helped standing in the chilly weather bearable. Acting as apart of the Baruch College cheering section was me, and fellow peer mentors, Trevene Chance and Paola Feliz. Students of mine who attended were Janella, Leo, and Shaterra and I very much enjoyed their company. It felt good to cheer on the walkers because I could tell that the event was meaningful for a lot of people and to be a part of that was very special. It was my first time ever attending a walk for bfreast cancer and I believe that next year I would prefer to walk the entire 40 miles rather than stand and clap for 2 hrs on a Saturday afternoon.

I loved cheering the walkers on, although it was pretty chilly out there. I thought more people where going to be there but it was nice sharing that moment of happiness with the people that did go. It was the first time I attended an event like this and while I took the bus, I watched a lot of the walkers walking down from like 145th street. It was so nice attending and cheering!!!
